Rising Tide Society & TuesdaysTogether | Creative Meetup In Augusta, GA

If you follow me on Instagram you've probably seen me posting about something near and dear to my heart: building community. I moved from Athens, GA to Augusta, GA almost exactly a year ago, at which was the same time I launched my photography business. My husband began residency in medicine to be a urologist, and I began working from home and experiencing the joys, and difficulties, of entrepreneurship, creative life and a completely new city. Immediately I began craving a community of creatives: to lift each other up, brainstorm ideas, celebrate wins and work through hardships.

Quickly I found a consistent theme: that other local photographers, creatives and small business owners felt the same. I'd been praying for an outlet to foster community in this city when about 2 months ago, a photographer out of Annapolis, Maryland named Natalie Franke posted on Instagram that she'd be hosting a creative meetup in her city & would love anyone else interested to join her and do the same. With nothing to lose, I e-mailed her and said "I'm in!" The Rising Tide Society launched on April 28 with 12 cities on board including Augusta, GA. Since then, the Rising Tide Society has turned into an international campaign led by Natalie Franke and Krista Jones for Community Over Competition with nearly 100 monthly meetups of over 1,000 creatives total! How amazing is that!

Here in Augusta, the movement has caught on quickly! In fact, it's spreading throughout the CSRA, and I've had the pleasure of sharing about the movement on Buzz on Biz and in skirt! Magazine! To learn more, listen to the Buzz on Biz podcast and check out this awesome feature in skirt! In fact, this great shot was taken by a crazy talented local photographer and one of our meetup members' fiance's, Jon-Michael Sullivan!

If you're in the CRSA area & are a creative, small business owner, weekend warrior or even a big dreamer, we'd love to have you join us on the 2nd Tuesday of every month! You can join the Facebook group and find out more details on times & locations every month!

More than anything, I'm so grateful for the response here in Augusta and throughout the world and am so excited for what's to come! I simply can't wait to see how this impacts the landscape of small business and creative life here in Augusta!
