Fall weddings have always been some of my favorites – from the slight chill in the air, to gorgeous natural color palette, to the coziness of fall food & drinks, everything about weddings like Katie & Chris’ makes my heart beat a little bit faster. Not only are these two of the kindest people I’ve ever met, but their thoughtfulness in planning and details absolutely blew me away. Katie’s vision for an Anthropologie-inspired fall wedding included details full of legacy & family heritage. Mary of Catherine Kelly Events helped create the most beautiful day for these two and I’m so honored to have it featured on Southern Weddings!

With a color palette featuring stunning florals by Mary McLeod of Amy Osaba Events, emerald green bridesmaid’s dresses and tweed suits with burnt orange bow ties & leather suspenders for the men, and Katie’s grandmother’s lace fan from her own wedding day, their wedding was so wonderfully designed to mirror the organic beauty that graced that November day!

When I first met Katie & Chris and heard about their love of food & drink, I knew we’d be great friends. Katie said: “The vision for the cocktail hour was to honor and celebrate Chris’ German heritage and heritage and his family’s love of beer. We designed it to look like a beer garden and added soft pretzels and mustard to the grazing table. We had benches, bar stools, Adirondack chairs and blankets to encourage guests to relax and get cozy. Inside the Trolley Barn, we wanted to create a southern garden party feel to welcome our friends and family to Atlanta, with subtle nods to my English/Irish heritage – greenery, vintage china and Irish coffee to name a few. We love the idea of long banquet tables so everyone will be seated together and decided to serve the meal family style encouraging guests to interact with each other and have the opportunity to try a bit of everything.”

The space was magical with three long, family style tables overflowing with gorgeous vintage China, low, lush florals, handpainted table numbers by the groom, and wine ready for pouring during the family-style passed dinner. Cascading over the doorways, Amy Osaba Events created tree archways from foraged tree limbs.

If that doesn’t sound like the most amazing evening, I don’t know what is. I’m still dreaming of how warm and welcoming their day was – and how I felt like I was part of Katie & Chris’ family celebrating a Southern soiree dedicated to the legacy of their families & the life they are building together. Katie & Chris, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: your wedding will forever be a favorite of mine. Every interaction with you has been so full of genuine joy & excitement. Your trust in me & your vendor team means the world, and we’re honored to serve you both in your season of engagement and first day of marriage. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Love the pics! Do you happen to know if Active Production and Design did the lighting not only inside but for the string lights outside as well?

That’s a great question, Lydia! I’m sorry I don’t know the answer, but I bet you if you reach out to them on their website and send them this link, they’d be happy to share if it’s something they did/are able to do! 🙂
