At most weddings I tear up at some point or another. It’s amazing to see the love shared between the couple, their family and friends, and to be reminded of the sacred vow that is marriage. This past weekend’s wedding was no different. In fact, not only did it make me tear up at multiple times, but it also made me do real life "heart eyes emoji" around every corner! We celebrated the marriage of Margo & Hunter under the spanish moss filled oaks of St. Simons Island, GA, a town that is near and dear to their hearts. 30 years ago this month, both Margo & Hunter's parents began their family's legacies, saying their I Do's to forever. In fact, Hunter's parents even walked down the exact same aisle as Margo & Hunter! It was amazing to think of where their lives together began and now that they returned 30 years later to welcome a new addition to their family of 4 children! And what a perfect addition it is!
I was introduced to Margo through two mutual friends here in Augusta. Margo & Hunter spent a season in our little town while in school, and spent the last year clear across the country for Hunter's first year internship in residency. Only a couple months ago they moved back to the East coast for residency in radiology, ready to take on 5 years in Baltimore! With their schedules, we actually did not meet in person until the night of the rehearsal, but I quickly took a liking to them as a couple - they are easy-going and fun, genuine and joyful - a combination that makes for such an amazing destination wedding weekend. Plus, I think there is a unique understanding/bond that anyone in residency has, and I knew in an instant that Margo & Hunter were so special (and that I wish we were in residency in the same city to hang out together!).
During one particular moment in the ceremony, the pastor encouraged them to continue serving each other, even on days when they feel like they've give all their doctor & nurse selves can give. And it immediately made me smile (through my misty eyes) seeing how well they love and serve each other, and their family & friends, already. As guests reunited from across the nation the evening before, Margo & Hunter made each person feel like he or she was the honored guest! And when the wedding day arrived, I've never seen such joyful smiles on a bride & groom's face! Margo lit up the room as the sun set over the lake at the Frederica Boat House.
Plus, their style made for such a gorgeous day led by LLC Events. Margo's dress is one of my favorites I've ever seen - absolutely stunning and so unique! In fact, during their year in Seattle, she drove to Vancouver to pick it out and had it shipped to Georgia for her big day! The lush florals, color palette and classically elegant style paired perfectly alongside the natural, coastal elements of the wedding day. And more than anything, these two and their families hosted such an amazing weekend to celebrate their marriage!
Margo & Hunter, the love you share is such a reminder of the opportunity we have to love those around us every day. Thank you for that! I know residency isn't always easy, and can't imagine being as far from family and friends as you two are, but there is one thing I know: seeing your joy together and the way you are so thoughtful for each other and those around you, will be such an asset to your marriage! Thank you for trusting me with your wedding weekend and welcoming me in like a long-time friend. It was such an honor to capture your day, and a weekend I won't soon forget! Cheers to lifelong love, and to reuniting in Athens one day.
