This past weekend Chip and I both had the entire weekend off in Atlanta, and it was a glorious thing! At the start of each new medical year (July 1), we look ahead in the calendar so I can schedule weekends, vacations and holidays off that hopefully will match with his call schedule. While food & branding photography tends to be scheduled a bit closer to the shoot, weddings are often booked about a year out, so we aim to block off weekends well in advance to prioritize quality time together! It doesn’t always work out perfectly and it certainly isn’t always easy, but with some intentional planning and coordination, we are grateful to have the chance to spend some weekends completely dedicated to family, friends, fun and food.

For the 4th we enjoyed old favorites (Antico, of course) & new restaurants (Persian food), time swimming with our puppies in the pool, and a 4th of July celebration with both sets of families and nearly 40 family friends! We are so hugely grateful that our families get along so well, and this holiday was extra special because everyone had time off, including my sister-in-law (who works in the NICU at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta), my sister Renee Locher (who often is busy doing hair & makeup for shoots), and her boyfriend Dan (who runs the ship at Osteria Mattone). With it being so rare that everyone is available, I knew we had to take some family photos to prove it happened! 😉 Plus, I am so lucky that my dear friend, Elena of Laurel Avenue is married to one of the Carnes’ childhood church friends, so we got to spend the evening together eating peach ice cream and watching fireworks before she & Zach officially move to Milledgeville!

I love having these images and it makes me smile remembering the sweetness of these summer days together! Hope you had an amazing 4th of July!
