When Savannah was asked for the inspiration for her & Alex’s wedding day, she immediately responded “Home.” As a native South Carolina girl, Savannah knew that she wanted her day to highlight the elegant Southern experience with a level of comfort & warmth that can only be found in the South. She and Alex currently live in Idaho for Alex’s military career, and he and his family are all from North Dakota, so Savannah said: “I wanted to incorporate everything that reminded me of where I grew up and why I love South Carolina so much.” The Millstone at Adams Pond was the perfect backdrop for their day & ceremony overlooking the pond led by the amazing, heartfelt, and funny Rev Kev of VOW.

Their intimate wedding planned by Meagan Warren Weddings showcased her roots in everything from the attire to the food. Savannah’s bridal style of vintage-inspired lace, Jack Rogers sandals, and pearls paired perfectly with the tan suits, bow ties, and suspenders for the groomsmen. In fact, if you look closely you’ll find that Savannah carried her “something borrowed” down the aisle on her bouquet – a pearl necklace gifted to Alex’s mom from his dad. It began with one single pearl and over the years as they were able, he gifted her additional pearls to add to the necklace. Now, a treasured heirloom, it was the perfect addition to her locally source bouquet by Fern Studio! Plus, Savannah’s hair & makeup team was incredible – Amy Schaming from Metropolis Salon & Eyebrow Junkie Makeup Artistry on makeup. Savannah & her ladies were stunning!

The organic style of florals alongside subtle striped & floral linens, mason jar cafe lights, Southern inspired dessert bar, and more set the scene for their upscale Southern favorites on the dinner menu by Southern Way Catering… and don’t forget the boiled peanuts to start! “Our guests came from all different places, but we can all find some common ground at the dinner table,” Savannah said. Savannah is a girl after my own heart, for real!

Finally, the couple danced the night away under the South Carolina stars to “La Vie En Rose” by Louis Armstrong because it is both beautiful and classic, and also as a nod to Savannah & Alex’s high school trumpet playing talents. Savannah mentioned: “I danced (and cried hysterically) to ‘He Didn’t Have to Be’ by Brad Paisley with my stepdad. There couldn’t have been a truer more heartfelt song because that man didn’t have to do anything for me growing up and he chose to be a father figure and show me how a man values his wife and children.”

Savannah, a pharmacist in a family of pharmacists, loved incorporating something unique to their story as their guest book. Guests left a note for the “Prescription for a Happy Marriage” in a vintage first aid box that they now use as a beautiful display piece in their curio cabinet!

When asked if there is anything she’d recommend to future brides it was: “Hire professionals in general. Invest in your experience. It’s worth it in every way. And keep it light. We ended up having a smaller guest list and kept our wedding party small and I’m honestly glad it turned out that way. It created a way more intimate experience and we didn’t feel rushed to talk to everyone so we actually got to enjoy our reception!”

She sounds like the true Southern gal wanting to ensure they could spend quality time with each of their guests AND party it up on the dance floor – and party they did (she even had a choreographed dance with her siblings that left everyone in awe and in stitches!).

It was without a doubt a day that made everyone feel right at “Home” in the beautiful state of South Carolina, where Spanish moss swayed as gracefully as the couple on the dance floor, and the memories are as sweet as the tea!

Savannah & Alex, your day truly is one of my all time favorites. After having to postpone due to Alex’s deployment, this day was even more anticipated than before. It was everything and more I could have imagined – and the perfect day for you two. Thank you for the honor to capture it. You two are such thoughtful & servant-hearted people. Alex, thank you for all you do for our country & your dedication in all facets of life. Savannah, thank you for the same – I am so inspired by how you serve Alex & the fur babies wholeheartedly, as well as your family, friends, and patients. Thank you for all you do! I’m honored to call you friends!
