A beautiful venue, a gorgeous summer evening, the most stunning, lush florals, an epic dance party, and the best couple who happens to be dear friends of mine. All of these things made up the perfect day for Wendy & Travis‘ wedding at Epting Events‘ property in Athens, GA, The Hill. I truly can’t imagine a more amazing day for these two, and this wedding will forever be a favorite! Every detail was so well-thought out and perfectly created by such a fabulous vendor team, including Candice Beaty of Chancey Charm, Vine & Branch Floral Design and Pastel Makeup and Hair, among many others!

Wendy & Travis originally met while attending the University of Georgia, so it only seemed fitting to celebrate their big day in a town that means so much to them! This day was full of reunions from across the nation (and world!), sweet friends and laughter. In fact, Wendy was in my sorority and was a roommate of mine after college, and Travis & my husband were fraternity brothers (you may even see Chip make a photo appearance later!), so it was such a joy to see so many friends from college! Not to mention that Chip actually lived with Wendy’s mom for a month while he rotated in Knoxville, TN for medical school! Needless to say, this wedding is near and dear to my heart!

From their sweet first look, to a tear-filled moment with mom, to being married by their couple’s small group leader, every moment was intentional and focused on them as a couple and those they love most.

One of my favorite details from the day was the dessert (of course!). Featuring homemade hummingbird cakes as a tribute to Wendy’s grandmother, Wendy explained that every year her grandmother would make a hummingbird birthday cake for each grandchild and decorate it with animal figurines. It became a sweet tradition for their family and was the perfect addition to their southern wedding.

Plus, guests enjoyed custom cookies with a signature painting by one of the bridesmaids and a sweet friend, Britt Bass Turner, and they were “almost too cute to eat” according to Wendy in this amazing Southern Weddings feature. Wendy & Travis, forever thank you for inviting me to be a part of your big day. So thrilled for the Johnsons!

PS: Did you recognize that dashing couple in the red tie and blue dress during the reception? It’s always fun to see former LCP couples like Abbey & Scott at weddings!
